Tallow-based balm promotes skin barrier health and hydration
The skin can become dry or cracked when the skin barrier is weakened. That's why I am such a fan of the tallow in this Honey Balm. Grass-fed beef tallow contains fatty acids,including oleic and palmitic acid,which are similar to those the skin produces naturally. A review of dermatology literature suggests tallow may work with the skin's natural structure rather than just coating the surface. This may offer support for the skin barrier over time. A healthy skin barrier matters for patients because it is one of the body's first defenses against moisture loss and environmental irritants.
